I mentioned in my Why Arcturix post the WHY for this adventure and the reason I wanted to get involved in coding/ AI. Too many people consume rather than create and having been involved in web design for much of my life, I've always been limited by the functionality I can add to a site.
One of my funniest memories as a young teen was rebuilding my own version of Neopets - except EVERY outcome and every interaction wasn't coded, it was a separate page. This gets complicated when you have currencies, inventories and dozens of interactive elements. If I remember correctly, it was THOUSANDS of pages. A learning curve nonetheless.
I do some freelancing in my spare time and I recently discovered the joy of Wix - a fantastic tool for basic web design and even creating member accounts, stores and community spaces. HOWEVER, it has its limitations and the tool I wanted to build was outside of the off-the-shelf functionality.
Enter WIX VELO. The 'advanced' side of Wix, where I can fully customise by site.
"Velo is a full-stack development platform that empowers you to rapidly build, manage and deploy professional web apps."
HOWEVER, once again I have no knowledge of where or how to get started - until I found a course on Codecademy: Create a Professional Website with Velo by Wix
NB: I have a PRO account for some of these courses.
Since JavaScript remains at the core of web development, it’s often the first language learned by self-taught coders eager to learn and build. We’re excited for what you’ll be able to create with the JavaScript foundation you gain here. JavaScript powers the dynamic behavior on most websites, including this one. - Codecademy
SO! I'll be taking a quick Python detour into this Javascript course designed specifically for Wix. Let's see how I get on and if I can start to develop my own website tool on the side.
If it's a success, I'll share my progress here.
If it's a failure, I'll probably still do the same.
If you know any other tools/ courses that would be great - please let me know.
Free Code Camp has an intense 300-hour course. This could be a nice option: https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/javascript-algorithms-and-data-structures/
